There is considerable uncertainty around HDD Camcorders and what it means and I thought I should tell you a little bit about what it stands for.
An HDD Camcorder consists of a hard disk that your film is stored on. Once you have record a film, you can connect the camcorder to your PC and transfer the shooting on to the pc’s hard disk or burn it on a DVD disc.
An HDD Camcorder can store different amounts depending on the model, but generally you can say that the larger hard disk (memory) the more expensive it becomes.
In comparison with other systems, the HDD Camcorders is a great choice. It is very easy to use and you do not need tapes for storing, etc.
You simply plug-in the camera into the PC, transfer the film and then you have the option to clear the memory on the camera to be able to record more.
The downside was previously the data rate. Especially in comparison with HDV technology which makes use of tape storage. Today, the HDD technology has improved considerably and it is often as fast as a HDV camcorder.
What kind of thing do we achieve with higher data rate?
Well, simply because the higher the data rate is the better the picture quality will get.
